10 Years & Counting

We can’t believe it, exactly ten years ago we sold our first share of stock – Boston Celtics LP. We were absolutely thrilled that someone actually found our website!

At that time, we offered only two stocks. Today our stock list has grown to over 100 companies. We’ve come a loooooooooooooong way! Our idea of making it easy to give stock as a gift was conceived over 25 years ago, but it was the internet that really made GiveAshare.com possible.

At the time, we couldn’t even spell “internet”. Leslie and I were Finance people with a great idea and had to learn how to turn it into reality. After almost a year of preparation and a week of working through the night, we launched GiveAshare.com. We weren’t sure what to expect but thought this could be a nice hobby. Boy, were we in for a pleasant surprise.

It didn’t happen right away. After the launch, how was someone going to find GiveAshare.com with millions of websites out there? We were actually on a road trip across the U.S. when Leslie shouted, “we got our first order!”. Other small business owners can relate to the absolute thrill and sense of accomplishment we got.

It seems so fitting that the Celtics were our first. Here we are today, with the real Boston Celtics exceeding all expectations as they go into tonight’s game hoping to earn a spot in the NBA Finals. We too have exceeded all expectations, our own and more importantly, our customer’s.

Over the last ten years we have continually added new stocks and cool options. We have made significant investments in systems, processes, and people to give customers the best user experience and we are rewarded by happy customers, referrals and even media attention.

Even with this growth, we continue to operate our small business with the highest integrity and customer focus. WE TRULY CARE!

In ten years we have gone from Celtics to Facebook stock (UPDATE: Facebook is now Meta as of 2021) with a heck of a lot in between. What a fun ride it has been. We look forward to the next 10 years which are apt to be just as exciting as the first.
